Squier Guitars - Fender's Answer To Affordability
60Sometimes I wonder if Fender realized how successful their Squier line of guitars would be when they first bought the company. It seems like almost everywhere music related that I go I find a sweet playing squier guitar for sale! The Squier company was actually originally a string manufacturer before Fender aquired them in 1965. It was around '82 when the Squier brand because Fender's value for cheaper prices guitar line.
Let's get right down to what is available, shall we? Just like Fender's main line of guitars, you can find Strats, Teles, Bullets and more. Check these out:
- Squier 51 - my first look at one of these was not the guitar itself but the wiring diagram that I found on the net and different mods that could be done. At the time I was not overly familiar with them but found a good deal on one for sale on Craigslist so I bought it! Of course, I did look around a Squier 51 forum first to educate myself, learn about the neck and pickguard and stuff.
- Squier Telecaster - a buddy of mine had the Telecaster Thinline version of this. Amazing guitar for the price - check out some reviews! I think I like the custom and standard a bit better though.
- Squier Bullet - I can't really give a great review of this one because I've only had a chance to play it once. Liked it though! I believe it was a Japan model Stratocaster by Fender. It was a special guitar that unfortunately I didn't have the $$ for at the time.
- Squier Classic Vibe - you can get these in a Telecaster, Stratocaster, Jazz Bass, and more.
- Squier Jagmaster - if you ever see a Jagmaster for sale at a good price, it's a great guitar to have. Especially if you are into guitar mods. Check out the Vista series and youtube videos.
- Squier Stratocaster - funny, I have a manual for one of these deluxe versions but no guitar. Need to resolve that someday! Make sure you check the serial numbers on these because the ones made in the 80's are especially sweet in my opinion. The Japan models are nice too.
- Squier Duo Sonic - all around great guitar. Classic vibe and sweet harmony.
Today there are many professional musicians that have decided to call Squier their brand of choice --- Tom DeLonge from Blink 182 being one of these musicians.
They've even got some crazy limited editions like the Hello Kitty Squier Strat!
